My plastic clip and rod were broken in my 95. I was able to fix the rod by using a piece of metal to remake the forked end, and then "pin" it to what was left of the forked part of the rod. I've never liked the idea of plastic holding metal together. So I used a 10/32 die and threaded the end where the plastic clip goes. Then made a brass bushing to take up the space between the rod and the hole in the door handle. used a part that I make a work ( basicly a cylinder with 10/32 threads on the inside.) to bolt the rod to the handle. I've got pics but don't think I can post from my BlackBerry.

My questions is also my window doesnt roll down all the way, how does this affect the window?
There is a metal piece dangling and it comes in contact with the window.

New member here and already used a couple of the DIYs This forum is amazing!

Ok so on topic now, my passenger door had this door handle problem and when I took off the door panel I notice I am missing the ROD! It is nowhere to be found! Is there any place I can order another rod or something else I could use? Sorry I didnt feel like going thru 11 pages of posts. Thanks in advance!

Finally happened on my '92 SC400 with 208K miles-- Driver door wouldn't open with outside latch. I have this car almost 19 years (since new) and I knew the door latch was on the list of typical problems.

I bought the part (P/N P/N 69293-12040 at my local Toyota dealer for $3.65 and got on with it. Repair was just as described by the original poster (page 1 post 1 with pictures). My rod from door handle down to latch assy was badly bent because I had lowered the window, but straightened it out and all is well. As a note the part I got was much yellower than what looks like white nylon/delrin on earlier posts suggesting the glass fill has been increased to toughen it up.

Thanks for the input. Club Lexus never lets me down!

Passenger side 69293-12030. Drivers side 69293-12040.

DO NOT ROLL YOUR WINDOW. The rod pictured is hanging freely now and when the window attemps to roll down the rod is in the way and will get damaged. My rod had bent luckly it wasn't to bad I had bent the rod back into the position it needed to be.

Thanks club lexus never fail me

^ try zip tie it's better.. well glue is good if you dont mess up but if you do then gg

my ziptie lasted me about 7 months.. it broke due to the extreme heat but not bad for a cheap fix
