Nice to be back. I've been super busy and haven't posted anything in close to a year. Now I have a few problems. My 92 SC300 seems to be leaking from two places. From the oil pan and from the spot that the engine connects to the transmission. Any suggestions on what to do? Are these leaks something I can fix myself or do I need someone to do it for me. If so whats the average cost for these repairs?

 

One of them sounds like its the rear main seal.

 

I'd agree. Does sound like the rear main seal.

 

rear main seal = drop the tranny
oil pan = drop the oil pan some and scrape off all the old gasket with not so much working space

both are definitely not my favorite jobs.

 

Luckily both my front main and rear main seals are pretty dry even at 144k miles. However, if mine are leaking, I would probably consider swapping a 1jz if smogging isnt a concern since the costs are pretty high

The seal might not be torn... I would at least try it before dropping the transmission. I'm cheap like that though

 

Best it will do is stop the leak by cleaning you engine and the seal so that it can seal, the worst it will do is clean your engine and open up the leak more.
