I am trying to choose between 2 SC400's. The first one is a 1993 white with gold emblems fully loaded including the Nakimichi sound system and has 117K miles, asking price $13.9K. The second one is a red 1995 also fully loaded with the Nakimichi sound system and has 130K miles, asking price is $17.9K. They are both in excellent condition and drive the same which is excellent. Either one I get I plan on putting eibach / tociko suspension and GS400 17 inch rims. I belive the 95 has the self learning transmission, is this a desireable tranny to have or is the older one just as good or better ??? Please give me your opinions as to which one you would get and why. TIA.

Get the '95 much better model which eliminates many unecessary sensors and has a bunch of upgraded parts(like TPS, no coolant level, etc). See if they can lower the price because of the milage. Tranny is the same though.

MindFlux could not be more right...the '95 represents the first major change in the coupe...not really a change...but a couple of good fixes. Here is the list:
-Pre-tensioning front seat belts
- foglamps (not a second pair of lower lights)
- new wheel designs
-CFC-free Air Cond.
-Outside temp gauge
-Remote entry system added the audible signal - sounds like a small thing...but nice to know that you can "hear" it when it locks and unlocks.
-Suspension and power steering were slightly retuned to further improve stability and give slightly more road feel.
-new noise control measures added
-revised front nose and air damn
-revised tail lights
It is a good price...but make sure the maintenance schedule has been followed (timing belt...plugs..etc)
