Sounds like a bad box (trans) to me. Be sure and check the fluid.

i was over at blaznsc400 house today tryin to find out whats wrong. the car does start up but sound as if it was only a 4 cylinder. so was check all the plugs. looked hella old so we change them. the cap and rotor was OK. didnt work. the fuel pump should be ok cause gas was still going to engine cause car still starts. thought fuel filter might be clogs so we changed it.. but still didnt solve problem we took it to a friends shop and he looked at it for awhile and saw that the cats were glowing red. the previous day blazn was driving around in the rain when all of this started. so we think it could be hydrolock or something. took it back to the house drain all the oil and putted every plug put and took a vaccum cleaner to it to suck some water oout but the car still doesnt run right. NEED HELP

If it's the trans he still has the other issue with the strange exhaust noises.

Hay you said the cats were glowing red. That is a sign of bad cats. The cats stone has came undone inside. This is what I think is wrong. The cats are gone and not letting the car breath. Take it back to your friend and have him take both cats loose or better jet lift the car up and check for rattle in the exhaust around the cats. You
should hear something moving inside the cats

i also have to add that the engine sounds likes it miss firing and that the crankpulley is leaking oil. could it be that the engine is blown??? all this because of driving in the rain.

Check both coil packs first. Common and easy fix. If the engine sounds like it's only running on half the cylinders, this usually the issue.

Next, there have been other issues with people's cars and glowing cats. Search yielded this.

Hey Jimbo! Hows it going? It does kind of sound like hydrolock but how would it have gotten this way? Are you running a cold air extension like mine. Mine almost scrapes the floor. If it is hydrolocking then just run it on first gear for a good mile. After that just bring it back home and let it rest over night. All the heat produced from running it at a high rev on that first gear should cause the remaining water in the motor to evaporate and get the hell out of there. In the morning when you go turn your car on it should be running fine and dandy. You say you guys already tried replacing the spark plugs. Thats good but have you replaced the wires? When they get old they start to crack and gash up leaving you little gaps. It happened to me one time. I learned the hard way when a friend of mine had steam cleaned my engine bay. Water had gotten through and my SC sounded like an STI.
