What's the current draw? Are you running the stock alternator? I don't think there was ever a consensus as to get a stronger alternator or not. Or is a stronger battery enough? (Like an optima deep cycle?)

I guess I could answer this, since I will be the owner of this car starting this Saturday when I hand the check over to Reza, my friend in SF.

No plans for an aftermarket radiator for now but maybe next April, I might get a Koyo radiator.

I am going with some basic mods first and I have already bought the following:

Tein FLEX (no EDFC yet)
JIC Magic Strut Bar
Flex-A-Lite fan (already installed as you can see)
SAFC

Next up will be TRD LSD (if I feel I need it since it will be snowy in Chicago), and TM Engineering front/rear sway bar set.

I hope to obtain useful knowledge and guidance from the experts here. I have not owned a car in 3.5 years since I sold my previous car when I moved to downtown Chicago.

This car is a 93 5 speed with 150k miles and I am confident it can go for much longer than 250k.

reza- i asume the flex-a-lite 210 kit is a generic kit and that they all come with the relays and all that stuff. is that true? because i wasnt able to find a spicific kit for the sc300 so just curious because i would like to do the swap over thanksgiving.

 

Just replace the stock wiring with better larger gauge wires. Mine burned out and the car got close to overheating real quick when the fan cut out. Luckily I was near a gas station.

 

If you'll be driving the car in snow, you do not want a limited slip rear end (in a 2WD car). Think about it... When one wheel begins to slip, it transfers more torque to the other wheel. But, you're in the snow, so that wheel will start to slip too. It's an endless cycle of power transfer (at least until you manage to somehow get traction).

With an open diff in the snow, you'll at least have partial control. With limited slip in the snow, you're along for the ride.

ur actually thinking about driving in snow itself??? u have guts. i dont want to drive in rain. let alone snow. be careful and have good snow tires.

I ran this on an Optima for years and never on a stock battery. Stock alternator was fine though. Just beef up the wires as mentioned above.

As for driving in snow I hope you arent using low profile tires. In the snow I was constantly fighting to keep the car in the road.

 

Its a generic fan, All the wiring is provided by the kit. Wiring done straight from battery.
If you are in the area(SF Bay), I might be able to help you out for a minimal fee.
