Default SC400 Distributor Cap Question

Replacing my caps, rotors, plugs, and wires and ran into a problem. If facing the engine, the distributor on the left side opposite the car battery will not come off due to the serpintine belt. Is there another way or do I have to remove this belt??? I searched with no luck so any help would be appreciated. There was some info on the SC300, but not 400.

I did this a while back but can't remember - Although removing the serpentine belt is very easy - just release the tension on the tensioner by using a socket of the correct size and you're good to go.

Most people do remove the serpentine belt and it makes for the simplest removal of the cap. It can be done without removal of the belt (I did it this way), but you really need to squeeze your hands in there and really work the cap out. If I had to do it again, I would loosen the belt.

Thanks for the reply guys. I tackled it last night before reading your responses and left the belt on. The serpentine had just enough slack to pull it off the top pulley so I could squeeze my hands in to get the bolts of the cap. Everything buttoned back up and running fine, but that was a chore!!!
