Smile Thanks

Thank you for a real voice, Arizona.
A message I finally I got from you made a sense to me all.
I look forward to hearing what number comes out from your full-built 1.5JGE soon.

Mean while, I would be able to share the information about 1.5J swap to others on this forum who are interested in 1.5J swap in the future.

KauKau, pics look great. I know it would be very beneficial to this forum if you did a write up of your experience building it. Lots of us have questions, and this would go a long way to answer them. Maybe the mods would even make it permanent?

Yea I gotta say...

So basically you're adding a new head for the turbos to a block thatwasn't made to take turbos equals something blowing up. Just do a true 1.5JZ or 2JZ and be done with it.
Was he kidding? It's not like the GTE pistons are forged and the GE are tin.... they're just as strong! I can't believe he said that... Thanks for that post!!!!! I had not seen that thread on CL.com, that's DEFINATELY one more valuable resource for this conversion.

[applause]yeah!![/applause]
Those pics are phenominal!! I'm bookmarking this thread so that I have it handy if/when I ever get around to doing this!! FANTASTIC JOB.

I have a related question that I am having trouble finding info on. I have a 2JZ-GE with the typical single turbo and 2mm HG. My motor has developed bad leakdown in one cylinder. I have a 1JZ longblock and was wondering if I could just swap my head and all my good stuff to the 1JZ-GTE block. I know it will need some minor work with the exhaust from the lower head and exhaust height but will everything else work? I know I will also have to locate a 1JZ HG and misc parts, also use the dist out of the GE.

Thanks for any help.

It CAN work, but you will need the 1JZ ECU and wiring harness, your 2JZ timing belt, and you'd need new intake and exhaust manifolds for the 1 JZ (they are different patterns than the 2JZ-GE or 2JZ-GTE). I think I got it all... anyone else?

The ECU is not a problem as I have AEM EMS, as for the manifods I am going to swap everything above the block from my GE so that should solve all those problems. The 2JZ timing belt will be too short won't it with the shorter deck height of the 1JZ, I thought I was going to need a 1JZ timing belt?

Wait, so you're using the 1JZ block and 2JZ head? Did I read that right?

As for the timing belt you may be right, I can't remember now that I think about it. Crap...

Exactly, thats the plan for now. I just want to put something together with what I have while I build the 2JZ.

Why are you using the 2JZ head and 1JZ block?? That'll yield a 2.5 liter 2JZ.......
