well i dont have a sc300 yet so havnt dont that much research into the options here but i thought i saw somewhere some people talkin about putin a 1jz head on the 2jz GE block.. would that work or are they retarted.
sorry if its a noob question but i dont start learing till i own the car and start playin with it
Yeah, it works, head bolts right on. Just some wiring differences for sensors and such. The 1jz head flows better than the 2jz head, so it 's a little smoother throttle response.
In Australia t's dubbed as a 1.5JZ conversion. As you said, it uses the 1JZ head (better flowing) with the block of a 2JZ (for bigger capacity)... only thing is it may cost an arm and a leg... I'm not sure if you can use the SC300's 2JZ block or if you have to use a 2JZGTE block, probably the latter though.
its not "better flowing" just that its built for a 2.5L engine so its made to provide for air flow up top... Ideally a 2jz head be a better match for a 2jz? simple enough eh?
On a side note it does swap right on, but the manifolds are not the same, so good luck finding 1jz upgrade kits for turbos. Turbos are ceramic as well, so if they blow, good luck finding those too ... Not to mention compression of GE, oil squirters, oil/coolant lines etc etc
ahh just thinkin about possiblities... my friend got a 1jz clip for like 2k pretty damn cheap but i hate to do that because its hard to get parts..
oh well.
