ECU and chip upgrade/ Exaust

Hey, I am very confused about ECU and chip ugrades? How do they work exactly? How much extra HP do they give an sc400? Where is they best place to get them? And what is the difference between the two? How much will each of them cost me? Also, where is the best place to get an exaust for a white car with gold emblems, because I do not want to change the color of my mufflers from gold to silver. What is the max amount of HP I can gain from an exaust and where can I get it? Thanks, Adam

The chip is the programmable part in the ECU(engine control unit).
Kind of like the game that you'd put in a Playstation I suppose.
If I changed my mufflers,I'd probably just keep my old stainless tips since they match the look/shape of the car.
