i had nothing to do today so i went on kbb and checked the value of my sc400. for private party in excellent condition they quoted my car to be $7800. last time i checked kbb about a little more than a year ago it was only at $6000 or so but pretty sure it wasnt in the $7000 range. why is our car prices going up? is it due to demand.

 

I don't think they are going up. It was probably just a glitch in the KBB database.

 

i hope they do, keeps the youngsters away.

 

 

It is entirely possible the SC's (moreso 5 speed 300's than anything) are increasing in value a tiny amount. The Supra saw a steep and rapid jump in it's price tag with the turbo craze, and the little brother just may be due for some commission also.

 

Most people dont know that the SC300 chassis is related to the Supras and that the engines and many suspension parts can be swapped. When they do know, their eyes light up

Yea, I hope that too many people will try to buy our SCs so that the "prestige" of being a Lexus owner remains. Today my coworker followed me out and saw me car and she was shocked. She said that she cant believe that I own a Lexus sports car

 

yea thats what everyone tells me once they see the LEXUS badge.

 

I love it when people think that my car is an '03, and when I tell them its a '99 they're shocked. Even better is when you drive around in a Lexus, you're driving in a car that currently costs less than a used Civic or even a new Civic, but looks like its worth multiples more!

 

Thats nothing, when my car was bone stock and gave a co-worker a ride, she was like, "nice car, what year is it" i let her guess it, she thought it was 2000 or something, mine is 1992.

 

yeah, all the white trash at my work call me "rich boy, yuppie, snob etc" kinda joking around even though I still hate them all deep down.... meanwhile in my head im going "well you could have owned one for about $9,000 less than your brand new Malibu that you're going to be making payments on for the rest of your life"... people think they cost a lot more than they really do (which is good )

Yep, I hope everyone out there tune em nicely like the Supras and NSX. People think a 30k dollar NSX lowered on Volks worth 80k LOL

 

I noticed that KBB used to list my car as $3750 for a 92 5spd with 150k on it private party, and now its $5125. $7335 for dealerships.

Thats definately an improvement over what it used to be. YAY!

 

mine has stayed about the same in the past few months at $14,530

 

I get that all the time when i give coworkers rides for lunch also
