Default HELP!!! Turn Signal Problem

My wife and I have a 93 SC400(78K miles). The front right turn signal does not work. When I hit the right turn signal, it flashes quicker than normal. The curb signal and the back signals work. I replaced the front bulb, but it still does not work. The relay also is clicking. The light casing does have some moisture. Could the moisture be causing the problem? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing that you mean the turn signal indicator is flashing quicker? Usually, this is indicitive of a failing bulb or relay. Since you have changed the bulb and the problem is continuing, I'm led to believe that the relay is about to go.

Does the relay only work for the front signals? The reason I ask this is because all other signal lights work. When hazards are on, the signal still does not work. The bulb out indicator is also on, but I know for fact, that all bulbs are okay.

When you put in the new turn signal bulb, it didn't light? And it also continues to show bulb out indicator? Perhaps it is the wiring harness and not the bulbs or relay. I am defiantely not an electic wizard so my help is only in the form of suggestion. Wish I could help more.

Thanks again. After replacing the bulb, it still did not work! When hazards are flashing, it does not work either. When turn signal is placed on right, it flashes quicker. I know this usually indicates a bulb blown. Could condensation in the head lamp assembly cause the light socket to malfunction? The bulb out indicator is still on after replacing the bulb.

I guess it could, but I had condensation in my headlight and experienced no problems such as this. I ended up replacing the harness anyway (old one was burnt since previous owner had incorrect bulbs in). It's a very inexpensive fix and can be done by yourself in roughly 30 minutes. But, before doing that I would still want to know if it is the root of the problem.

Working back from the bub we know the new bulb is OK. In order for the bulb out indicator to come on, something is wrong in-line after the bulb itself. Leaves, the harness and the relay, as far as I know. Lets wait and see what other input we get here. Others here know much more than I do about the electric areas.

Also, you may want to post this in the lighting forum, or perhaps the mods will move this thread.

mkorsu, thanks for all your help. I will try to trouble shoot it and let you know what it is. We bought this car for $1000 from an older gentleman and have had to do a couple of things. (seat switch, new speakers through out, new emblems) I will say that I do not have a lot of experience w/ the new cars. I am a truck guy but we own a couple of classics. Currently working on a "Cuda" w/ an original 426 hemi.

Best of luck to you with the blinker issue!!!

Welcome to CL. You'll find that there is literally a TON of info here on this sight. When I got my SC (roughly 18 months ago), I knew Nada about this car. From this site and members I have learned invaluable info about the SC. (Plus, I'm a hands on guy. I do all my own work on the car).

A 426 Hemi Cuda!!!!???

That's some big dollars there!!! 1970? 1971?

I'm anxious to see some pictures of that one!!!!!

1970 Hardtop. They are all fairly rare, but mine is not compared to others. I think there were 400 of mine produced. I would give everything, but my wife and kids, for a 1971 Manual Droptop (2 made) . I can find some pics & post.

Thanks again.

I had the same exact problem with the passenger turn signal also. For me, the problem was solved when i pulled up the metal contact in the light bulb housing abit more since it seems that the end of the bulb did not get a good connection with the metal. After that it work perfectly.
