Default possible auto sunroof mod? Opinions please

So today i was having the oil changed at my local lexus shop. they had a brochure for the 1999 sc300/400. The 99 and up had the auto one touch sunroof.

Now i asked my mechanic about doing this. He said it is possible with the new switch and the relay that is behind the sunroof under the headliner

anyone have any thoughts on this? better yet has anyone done this?

Opinions please

I wish I had that. Let us know how it goes.
Did those cars also have auto up and down windows (drivers and pass)? If so I'd like to do that mod too.

Hmm, does the driver get to control the passenger seat by "one touch" at least? I'd be down for doing the one touch auto sunroof. I hate holding my hand up there for the longest *** time. Also the windows and sunroof can stand to move a little faster.

make no damn sense why that should cost so much

any further ideas if this would work would be great since i have found no 99+ on car parts that ould have this part for me to switch out

someone should know if this will work before spending the money right?

My 97 has one touch moonroof open. I just hold the button for a second and it goes all the way back. So it didn't start in 99. Anyone else got a 97 or earlier that one touch opens?

I have a 97. The sunroof opens all the way with one touch. But I have to hold it to close it. It's rather annoying since it pauses when its half way close so you'll have to re-press it again to get it fully closed.

so with that being said, anyone know if this mod would just be as simple as switching out a relay?

mechanic said it would be a pitha to do But you know how mechanics are. Doubt they even thought about it before i mentioned it

Well I can also confirm the 97 one touch OPEN on the sun roof. I can also confirm that if you have an alarm and you get the module to roll your windows down from the alarm, both windows are one touch from the driver side...for both up and down. The module can be found on ebay for cheaper than audio shops. I am not 100% sure but I do believe if you buy just the module with no alarm it still gives it the one touch effect. I know they makes modules (might even be the same one) to make the sunroof open and close from the remote also. I can confirm that such a thing exists but I have never had it on my car so I do not know if it would make the sunroof one touch or not. I can also confirm that my friends passenger side window of his MR2 stopped working and somehow my friend wired up the driver side switch to control both windows to go up and down together and with one touch. I hope that helps out a little bit.

I got some JDM Folding mirrors from Ebay, and their driver's side had auto up and down! I hooked it up to my car and when i pressed the window up or down (not even auto) it just locked and unlocked my doors

If you get those modules that I am talking about you wont need any of that. According to the ads on ebay you do not have to have an alarm to use them. Even if you did though, you are looking at 75 for the two modules (one for both windows and one for sunroof) and maybe another 100 for an alarm, still way less than what you were quoted already.

The "relay" is a somewhat intelligent controller that handles the Auto functions, hence its high price tag.

There is likely a position sensor (so it can close to the 3/4-closed position) as well, which might have to be added.

And, you need to harnesses as well.
