Scratched Up Rear Quarter Panel
I went to Laguna Beach at 2am to walk the beach with my friend. No it wasnt really a hot date or anything. Anyways next morning I saw a a bunch of white lines on my rear quarter panel. My paint is extremely condition for its age (its a 1992).
I took wd-40 and wiped off most of the white paint and here are the results...
I went around for estimates and the quotes are really really high. I might as well get it done when I do my 97+ conversion

Dude, that sucks!!! Looks like you got swiped by another car. The streets around Laguna Beach are pretty narrow so I'm not surprised. That white car must have some red Lexus paint on its bumper.

TurtleWax Scratch Remover
Hey man, sorry about what happened that sucks. Here's my advice try some TurtleWax Scratch Remover. I had and a small run-in with a Toyota Matrix and scuffed up my front bumper a bit which wasn't too bad considering he ended up replacing his rear bumper. Our cars are pretty solid, but anyway, I took out all the scuffs with the TurtleWax. Good luck.

Can you feel the scuffs with your hand? It's hard to tell from the picture... if they're not too deep a good detailer could take it right out, but that's a big if as it looks like they may unfortunately be too deep...

Get used to it man, the world is out to destroy our cars...
I had a garbage man knock a can against my car, I had an idiot in a liquor store back into my front bumper in a van, and I had a lame-brain chickenhead in an Explorer inch into my rear bumper in the parking structure here at my job (she was trying to squeeze her SUV into a space marked for "compacts")...all within a week. I wanted to kill them all but I had to restrain myself and realize that it's only a car. You can't sweat every little scratch, and they are inevitable with a daily driven car, especially in SoCal where there are more cars than people and every parking lot engineer tries to squeeze as many spaces as possible onto a given lot. Good luck man.

You can try as hard as you like, but you won't be able to keep a car completely pristine if you need to drive it daily, scratches and dings will occur because other people are careless and have no respect for the rights and property of others.

Do the best you can with it without spending a fortune and move on, trust me on this man. I remember my "first" scratch...it was nothing compared to all the DAMN-damage I've sustained since then.
