I have a 240sx s13 with a SR20DET just swaped in which i did do myself. Well now i want to go with something with a cleaner body and a little beefer motor. and I was looking at a sc300 because it is a 6 cylinder and its clean when theres a nice body kit and rims. So guys! please fill me in, I know everthing there is to know about my 240sx but need info on the sc300 I want a manual so when i need to drift i can. i can only afford a 92-94 becasue limited on money but what should i know and what should i be on the look out for about buying a sc300. Oh yea can people give me specs of the motor and if it is alright for me to buy a high milage sc300.

Hey dont be so sure about not being able to afford a 97. Im starting to see them dip under 10K pretty frequently. Of course, an earlier model is 1/2 that .Originally Posted by fillup

And to be honest i dont see a big difference in the cost of a 93 and 95 . But try and get as new as you can, w/ lowest miles.(thats with almost any car obviously) But these cars have some problems that are more common on the early yrs than the 97+ (.I.E. suspension issues)
Good luck

That's about the best advice anyone could give.
If you're into drifting I would really suggest just sticking with your 240. The SC's a pig compared to your 240. I'm sure you know that with that sr20det you've got a lot of potential with that car. The SC can be a beast under the hood, but that means a swap and some extra goodies... and even then the car will still weigh around 3500lbs. Of course you could strip the heck out of her, but in my opinion that's just a waste of what really makes the SC great. If you're looking for 2jz-gte power then I'd suggest just finding a base model MKIV Supra. It'll save you in the weight department, and is actually designed for track duty.

i gave up my 240 because 1) I knew that 240s were becoming the next honda... and i didn't want to be in that crowd... i didn't really know that there was such a big following for SC's either... but this crowd is so much more refined, mature, and educated. 2) the SC just looks so much better... and its a step up in stature. just a couple of my reasons i switched... Good luck in your decision bro....
yes guys! i love my s13 like its my baby but its time for a more cleaner better looking body. I am a drifter but I just want a car thats as fast as my sr20det and the body look newer. I do love my car but its to much of a pure racing car. the way i built mine, its fully gutted and is just built for speed. I dont want to down grade but upgrade. so i figured that the sc300 would be good. and maybe someday when i just get the craving for a drift, the SC wont let me down.
Heres a good question. How many of yall SC owners have a motor with more the 150,XXX miles? Becasue i need a good long lasting motor and for instance i know the KA24de on a s13 stock is ****ty and will never last more then that. Please guys let me know about the down falls of the car, i know there has to be some.

BMWhat is correct. The last 2jz motor I was running still pulled strong at 190k miles, but like any motor its lifespan is directly related to how you treat it. If you beat the heck out of the motor everyday then it's obviously not going to last forever. But if your a "drifter" then why is reliability even a concern of yours? I'm sure that you already know that drifting is one of the worst activities for any automobile, and there's a reason all the veterans don't use their daily drivers as drift cars. In my opinion, if you're a "drifter" then you're looking in the wrong direction with the SC.Originally Posted by BMwhat?
