Default !!! I think the springs are installed wrong!!!

After 5 hrs of working on my suspension, I think my springs were installed improperly!

I purchased Eibach Pro-Kit for the NA Supra. 1.3/1.0 drop for F/R. However after getting them installed, the front of my car is slammed to the ground, where the front tire is hiding inside the fender well (I run 18" tires). The rear of the car is sitting HIGH 3.5 fingers from tire to fender well (so about 1.5-2 inches). What gives?!

I was hoping to get an answer before I put then on but never got a response. So I'm asking now, please tell me, how do I tell which springs go in the front and which goes in the rear?

Easiest way to distinguish the two is that one pair is taller then the other pair. Does the taller pair go to the front or the rear?

Damnit I'm pissed. Reason being is that my friends helped me do this and I need to redo everything.

Frustrated, please help!

Erm, there should be a thickness different between the two pairs of springs. From what I remember (I haven't done the springs in the Soarer in a loooooong time) the fronts are thicker than the rears.

Hope that helps!

I can't tell which are the ticker of the two anyone. I can't even see the spring on the front of my car period. It's all hiding inside the fender wall. I think the tall pair are meant for the rear. Is it the pair where the coils are wider apart up top and then narrows down at the bottom to a pig's tail? That has to be the rear springs.

Were there labels or some instruction manual that I didn't notice when I opened up the box? How come this never seems to be an issue with anyone since I can't find any thread about this.

Just a quick Q.... are you running factory shocks or Supra shocks in the rear? Just curious as I was browsing through Rich's site and I found this...

If you attempt a Lexus shock with a Supra spring, you will actually lift the rear end of the car higher than stock. The front struts are the same on both cars however.
An elementary thing but who knows...

thats exactly what I was thinking too. The front will sit like that- the rear will sit a bit higher. Here is a picture of a car I intsalled this springs on last spring.

btw- The install time for this car was less than 1 hour and 45 min!!! (yes- I do indeed rock)

I think the current setup is incorrect. I'm determined and hoping it's incorrect. The rear of my car is actually a little bit higher then before. It now has a 3-4 finger gap. It was barely a 3 finger gap before lowering springs.

I'm running Supra NA Eibach Pro-Kit springs. I know it drops 1.3 in the front and 1.0 in the rear. Since the rear didn't come down, this has to be wrong. Furthermore, my car bounces all over the place. Reminds me of those cheap suspension jobs people do to civics and the car bounces up and down constantly. The spring rate isn't strong enough in the front since it most likely was meant for the rear - reason for the bouncing. Hope this doesn't kill my struts, there isn't much travel before it bottoms out.

Default How to tell which are front and rear springs

Ok everyone, I just called Eibach. Surprisingly there was a live individual to talk to. Here is how you tell which are fronts and rears.

If you look at the springs imprinted letters, the numbers ending in 001 are always the front. The number ending in 002 are the rear. Sounds logical enough. I wonder why Eibach doesn't include a small info card stating that.

So I'll be darned, it was installed wrong. Sigh, guess I'll time how fast the install can be done the second time around.

ok here is the deal, I thought that if you use supra springs, you're supposed to use supra struts/shocks with it also. If you use a supra spring on a sc strut, the back will sit high.

You actually can't use Supra springs on SC strut. It won't fit. That's why I bought Supra springs and Supra struts.

The ones with the thicker material is the fronts. Also, the rears are "wound" more loosly than the front... Don't know how better to explain this. The rear springs are bigger, meaning the diameter of the springs are bigger. Hope this helps. BTW, this is for stock. Don't know how the Eibachs look.
