Default New Bomex Front Bumper Pics *56K Warning*

Picked up my new Front Bomex Bumper from O. L. T. on Wednesday, it has that license plate cut out so I bondo'd that up and tried to make it as flush as possible, doesn't look how I wanted but its good enough for now.

I just need to polish it and get some wax on it so it blends in better but here's some pics to start with.

Once I polish it and get the "L" back on there I think it will blend in a lot better.

Does the 97+ grill fit in there or are they different sizes?

it's wider but can be made to fit from the rear.

Any suggestions on what to polish this with? I painted it black and clearcoated it, then tried the 3M polish but it really didn't help.

Im sorry man, but that paintjob is pretty bad, I dont think a simple polish job can save it. Youll have to sand it down alot to get rid of all the orange peel, and then polish ALOT to get the shine back

wtf do you mean orange peel? Thats strait from a can of universal black and clear coat. I'll do it again but this is what I used on my rear bumper and it turned out fine once i polished it, but it was such a small area i worked on it forever.

I think he means the bumpy texture on the paint.

are you getting the rest of the kit? whats the deal with the few guys on here with only Bomex front ends.. doesn't the car look really "off" with just a front kit? also, is that spray paint?

autozone paint? wow.. don't be discouraged to post pics.. its just everyones honest opinions and thats what you need right?

If I were in your shoes.. I would just throw the stock back on and lower the car if you think it sits too high.. Save up money and get the rest of the kit and get a real paint job.. I honestly think it looks really weird with everything stock and 1 front bomex bumper.. but thats jus me.. good luck

Well the thing is when I got my car it had a huge chip of paint out of the bumper, about 6 inches long and 2 inches wide. I repainted half of my rear bumper with the same paint and it blends in PERFECTLY so I figured the front bumper would be the same using the same paint.

Yeah I know i'm not real satisfied with the results, if it were more glossy I'd be happy.

I'm going to work on it some more tomorrow, I'll see if I can post a pic if it turns out better...I also think I might paint my brake calipers black.....but I might be too lazy to take off the wheels lol so it may wait.

Hey man, I will give you props for the effort... I personally am not a fan of the Bomex, so I will never like it on any car, but I am not saying the Bomex looks bad... Because you are asking opinions though, I gotta comment on that paint job...Before I read the full post, my first impression was that it was painted by Earl Scheib, or Maaco, and that if so, the prep work could have been greatly improved, but then when I read that you had painted it yourself from a spray can... , well, I don't want to make you feel bad in any way, but, I will just let this smiley say the rest...
