There is a definite gain but I don't think anyone has dyno'ed one before and after. I'd except anywher e between 5-15hp if you do it correctly.

jkag, did you have the K&N cone behind any insulation/shroud?

I recently purchased my SC300, and it came with a cone style filter installed. I am in the process of fabricating a sealed and insulated box for it, but this whole time I have been curious if it is worth it. I'd like it to suck air from the inside-bumper area, since the air that flows in there is from the vent next to the fog lamp.

Any input at all would be nice.

The car was dyno'd without an insulating box, but I put one in later. Since the differences due to an insulated box only really show up when driving, they are hard (imposible) to quantify on a dyno.

As a mechanical enginner I think it should make a differnece and I will be putting an insulated box around the intake of my NAT as soon as I get my longer input pipe from BL

Default Dyno may not measure it, 1/4 mile might

Wondering how a dyno would measure gains of a BFI that is getting very little to no air pressure from the car being static. My BFI scoopes air from the front bumper directly and has positive presure that rises with car speed. Sorry guys, I never heard any change in sound whatsoever but felt gains particularly under WOT in third, fourth and fifth. Felt gains vs measured gains are dubious, but after the time I took on this I've convinced myself .

not to sure for the 300s but on the 400, mines a 95sc4, with a jic catback and an injen short ram intake with an airbox surrounding the cone and laundry ducting from the foglight area straight to the airbox, i dyno'ed 196rwhp with a very rich af ratio (below 10:1), forgot to reset the ecu to take advantage, i'm guessin if i tuned it, i'd be gettin close to 210rwhp.... also do note that sc4's get around 180rwhp stock. so i would assume an airbox would help on a dyno whereas the gains are better to be felt during driving while air is in circulation.
