Do u guys think i should paint the black plastic scuff plates? I hate the way they look against the white door jam, etc. My dads GS has real nice metal ones, but i dont think i can get them for a 92 SC. I was thinking silver or white. I have no idea how it would look though. I can see it looking good, but i can also see it turning out like s^@*. Im thinking it would look more like s%%#.

Default Door sill plates....

If you can find something in a stainless steel or chrome with the Lexus SC300 insignia on it I think it would look awesome....

I used to have a Porsche Boxster and they offer steel door sills with the Boxster insignia on them and it looked really good.

Default I think that would look nice....

I think the scuff plate like your dads would look nice on your White SC300.

I just bought a 1998 Pearl White SC300 last week.....my first Lexus....I traded the Boxster in on it.

congrats on ur purchase. Was is a boxster or boxster s? No offense to u or anyone else that has/likes it but i think the Boxster ans boxster S are the worst Porsches made. But Im glad u sold it and got a great car. What do u think about painting the black plastic the same gray as my leather. I have no idea. 1st im gonna paint my calipers.

Default Paint

I had a regular Boxster...Boxster S didn't come out until 2000. Mine was Zenith Blue, Grey interior, Black top. It was the Tiptronic auto/manual with finger swithces on the steering wheel to shift.

I loved the car and nothing will out drive the Porsche in my opinion or come close in handling. The only reason I traded it was because I had so many problems with it ever since Beaudry Porsche here in Tucson done an oil change. After that the seals leaked, the there was a hose loose, then a fuel injector went out and a spark plug burned up, then they ended up replacing the whole engine...they told me they were putting a brand new engine in and when I got the invoice it said "Rebuilt Engine". I wasn't very happy and Porsche wouldn't do anything and neither would the dealer. The car was still under original factory warranty and only had 20,000 miles on it. I never drove the car hard or anything. Also after picking the car up from having the engine replaced, the keys would take 15+ minutes to get in and out of the ignition and within 4 days it broke all together...then the air conditioning quit working. One problem after another.

I had a lawyer jumping at the bone wanting the case to take both Porsche and the dealership to court. I am about 100% sure I would have won the case...but I needed a reliable car since I just moved to Arizona and was starting my job which is about 30 miles from my home. I could afford to wait 2+ months for an outcome on a lawsuit. So I really ended up loosing money I am sure on trading for the 199* Lexus Certfied SC300 with 32,000 miles on it. I am only 25, just graduated college and don't have the cash to have a $$$ Porsche and also buy another car....between all the payments, insurance, and plates I wouldn't be able to save anything.

I really like the car, but miss the power. exhaust note, and handling of the Boxster. I really like the ride and better quality interior of the Lexus though and also the stock stereo is much, much better than the Boxster.

As for you painting the doo sill covers grey I don't think I would paint them at all.....I would find someplace to order some like your dad has. Painting them in my opinion would make them look like sh@t.

damn man...that sucks. I cant believe Porsche would ever put a rebuilt engine in one of their own. The SC should last u a long time though....its a Lexus and lexus=quality. as for the door sills, im not going to paint them. I might just rip my dads out and glue them to my SC j/k.

Default Porsche

The Porsche District Service Manager told me that they never put brand new engines in any of there cars that get the engine replaced.....I find that really hard to believe. When you deal with clientele that have the money to spend on a Porsche, they are going to be picky and won't settle for someone elses problems rebuilt and stuck in there car.
