Default Gas mileage

Just a little FYI, this past weekend I went out of town and drove quite a bit on the highway. I didn't drive enough to use a whole tank but if my pace was continued, I would have achieved a little over 400 miles to the tank, around 410. I was very impressed with those numbers. My car is a 95 sc3 5spd with around 126k on it. This is the best I have ever gotten before since everywhere I drive is around city, so I only get around 300 to the tank.

I usually don't drive enough to get past a quarter tank left, but after using 3/4 im usually at around 190-200 on my trip meter (i reset it at the gas station everytime). Lots of stop and go driving around this part of LI, so many frickin people.

So far I have averaged ~24 mpg (city/hwy). Pretty decent from what I've seen, especially with an automatic.

My project with this car is to increase fuel efficiency.
I made an intake for it yesterday and will get around to making a single straight through exhaust in the coming weeks.
I just bought some Volk rims for it (light weight) and springs and shocks (hopefully lowering it will improve aerodynamics and lower the drag).

Plans are to do more weight reduction and get an SAFC to better tune the fuel curve.
I bet I could get near 30mpg when all is said and done.

I'm open to more ideas

the most i have ever gotten was from maryland to florida non stop. i used just over 2 tanks on the 1000mile trip. well, 998miles to b e exact. about the same with both SCs when i drove them down. i pussed it with the old SC... i had the fuel light on for about 30miles. ended up with 426miles from that tank. the most i got with my current SC was about 410 on one tank. not bad at all. arround town i usually get about 300-320ish.

I did 413 miles on a full tank of gas just a couple of weeks ago.

I mainly go on the freeway so it's not very difficult for me to achieve good mileages.

After I filled up the gas tank again, my receipt said 18.38Gal. Looks like I was pretty much dried up when I pulled into the gas station.

with very little highway drives and mostly city i get around 270-290

little more highway and easily over 315.

i never really let the car get too close to empty so im not sure exactly how much i can get if i pushed it a bit more. oh, its a 95 sc300 auto 114kmiles.

I live in San Jose, Ca. and I drove to Sacramento Raceway in Sacramento and only burned a little over a quarter. I drive a 93 SC300 with over 226k miles on it. I love the highway mileage.

My 92 Sc400 ran out of gas at excatly 402 miles. After i sent my speedo cluster to Lextec lighting to have the needles fixed i was suprised to find out the gas gauge was not working properly...i know i should have checked my mileage but it was early in the morning...lol

the problem is repaired but i was really suprised to get over 400 miles on a tank of gas and i have around 170,000 miles on original motor and trans...

I also get 20.1 miles to a gallon 18.0 if i drive it like i stole it...lol

Default Miles Per Gallon

If you are really interested in determining how many miles to a gallon your car is getting you must be a little more precise. Miles per tankful can vary depending on a number of variables. The most accurate measurement, Miles Per Gallon, would be to first fill the gas tank and let the pump shut off at the first or second click. Zero your trip odmeter. Now drive the car untill nearly empty and then refill the gas tank at the same gas station pump to the first or second click just as you had done before. Now you have eliminated a lot of variables such as differences in gas pumps, slopes, grades or levels at the pump and whatever. Divide your milage by the number of gallons used.
