Default Variable Steering?

Ok this is my first rear wheel drive car and I notice that the steering gets slightly heavier at turns (40+ mph). Is this because of the variable steering thing or just the nature of of the car being rwd?? My last car, a fwd Chevrolet Cavalier, goes into corners/turns easily without much effort.

I don't notice that when I drive my 95. What is the air pressure in your front tires? Is PS pump fluid up to the full line?
