Gas is expensive, the lead-foot is retired. ECT only goes on when I need it. Besides I get more satisfaction with my 21mpg

Default MIght as well close the curcuit and remove the switch..

I’ve tried to be a more conservative driver and tried to keep in mind the $$$ I'm paying at the pump. I'm sorry when the ECT is off, there is NO other car in the world that behaves like the SC. It's like being in a stick in 4th or 5th at low R's and deciding to pass or make a closing gap without down shifting. I can’t stand getting the screaming 2-3 gear downshift only when my foot is on the floor. I'd much prefer a reasonable 1 gear kick down when I NEED it . Frankly I find it unsafe to drive in any traffic with the ECT off because the safe margin of time to make a move is lost waiting for the car to accelerate. I don’t like the 16 MPG that I’m getting but Hate #$#^$%^ at my car for not doing anything when I expect it to. Guess it’s just driving style. I have a bad habit of wanting to move a little faster than the pace of traffic.

You're lucky..... I get 12-14mpg in the city and I don't even have the ECT... and I try to drive slowly to see if I can get better gas mileage

ECT is always on when driving the ES 300 or the parents SC 430. I live in the country though and don't do alot of city driving or alot of stop and go driving maybe once a week.

Me, too. When I want to take off fast, I just put it in 1st. Then so as not to hit the rev limiter snick it up to 2nd @ 5200 RPM so it shifts @ 6000...alll good

I drive with ECT off and have been getting 25.4 MPG since resetting the gauge 3 months ago. I do mixed highway/city driving - about 50/50.

Def only when i'm racing around or just having a spot of fun... other then that my little V8 here will suck down the gas... i mean SUCK it down... talking like 5-8 mph... because it holds the gear out a little bit longer and shifts down easier making the higher RPM range used way more and cause there to be more gas to be pushed into the engine. so unless you driving like my mother it sucks the gas down more oh well it's still a blast

ECT's on only during possible street confrontations. Call it the "BAT" button
