Default Split Door Trim

http://www.hotkey.net.au/~cheets/soa...im_problem.htm

Im starting to notice that the drivers door fainly rattles everytime I close the door. After taking a closer look, theres crack near the power window module. The instructions says "
trim needs to be removed and then repaired by a plastic welder". Plastic welder?
Also, where exactly do u use that L-bracket? Can u guys post pics?

Driver Side

Is that part going to tear too eventually?

there barely visible man....the car is old and these marks are the result from it, i think its somehwere like 50 to 100 to fix them but i could be wrong, fix the other bigger problems with the car first....well thats what i would do
also the L brakets are just put underneath the armrest on the door around the middle of the arm rest to even out the supports.

peace

looks like the outer skin hasn't ripped yet...but the plastic underneath has cracked. mine had a similar problem so i took the door panel off...and put some epoxy from behind...and held it in place until it dried. if you do it right it will look like it was never cracked. if you look at the back of the door panel youll probably find a lot of areas that have cracks you might want to fix while youre at it. you should definitely fix that as soon as you get a chance, because if you dont it'll just end up tearing the vynil skin.....

50-100? Well I cant change the plugs on our cars but I think I might be able to handle glueing a door panel.

What do they mean by plastic welder? Are they talking about epoxy glue?

For now, as far as cosmetics, its not bad or noticable because the panels still look kinda new. I didnt even find out until a week after buying the car. I dont want it to get worse.

Ok the L bracket is still confusing. So u just drill a random spot in the middle inside there?

i think the plastic welder is if the vynil on the outside is ripped...its different from the epoxy. ive never used the plastic welder but your outside vynil is not ripped so the stronger wayt to fix it would be to build up some epoxy from behind. as far as the l bracket goes...you should only need that if your plastic is cracked where that bolt goes...in the pic from your first post on the tan door panel the bracket would go from behind that screw that goes into the door (there are two of them..look up from under the armrest) and support the armrest itself...and i figure you would glue that to the armrest from underneath..or put a screw or two.

The brackets for the screws near the hinge are already desentegrated when I took off the panel

Some patching up work

I thought the top part didnt have screws and tried to pop it off. Wrong. There were screws and I broke off the tabs. Fortunately, the glue im usin seems strong enuff to hold em.

If you shop around with the dealers, you can buy that whole piece, less all the attachments brand new as a separate unit for about $170 each. Then you can install them new on your doors.

Which attachments are u talking about? 170? thats not bad. So I assume that its just the lower trim without the power window module right?

It comes as one solid piece for each side...minus the door handle, the electronic switches, the speaker grill, screws, caps, etc. It is just that piece, but it is brand new, and should hold up for years. They are worth it to me. Mine were so cracked up inside, that they weren't worth fixing.
