Default intermittent wiper problem

My wipers won't work in the intermittent mode and won't "park" when turned off. The fuses are okay and I bought a new wiper motor which didn't do the trick. I assume it is the wiper switch. Does anyone have the procedure for replacing it? I assume that disconnecting the battery might be wise to prevent an accidental deployment of the airbag. Any help would be appreciated. I've got a '92 SC400 with 74K in excellent condition (well almost besides the wiper problem and cracked leather driver's seat).
cheers

Boot, did you ever receive a reply to this? I have an '05 ES330 and the intermittent wipers don't work either, but low and high work just fine.
