Sounds sexy! I'd do it! No idea on how you'd get it done. I have a moonroof with motors up there. A targa would reduce weight top heavy.

Properly done it will make the car heavier.

Don't forget it will reduce chassis strength and increase body flex.

Also the doors have frames that close flush with the roof. You'd have to cut the doors, too. Then the part you cut off needs to be welded to the targa top that you'd make from the chunk you removed. The windows would never seal the same again after that. Imagine the SC door with the upper frame removed -- the a and b pillars remaining. It would look horrendous, like a U-shape. There's no way in hell that would ever look right.

It's either a complete rig, or a VERY expensive project if you do it right. If you are dying for this, just get a Supra or some other car that was designed for one.

Even the Supra targas leak, squeak and rattle -- and those are factory.

T-tops. A pop top.
A removable roof. Lots of muscle cars have them. The roof isn't completely removable like a Miata.
Supras, 300ZX, MR2. Some others... can't think of any.

Targas are notorious for flying off, usually at 'upper' highway speeds.
Imagine paying thousands to get this done and then missing the latch that one time.
Bye bye thousands of dollars.

I say leave it.
If I had a choice, I'd have a hard-top. (Easier to do than targa)

T-Tops & Targa tops are two different things, a Targa is completely removable.
