Default Candy Apple Red taillights

I now a common mod to do on a 92 is to piant they orange part of the taillights red, but my question is do you have to remove the orange paint or can you just paint over it. And if you do have to remove the paint how do u go about doing so.

Sand it down a little with some 400 grit if you want, then just paint right over it. Make sure to use a good high quality clearcoat and not Testors crap clearcoat

Use Testors Candy Apple Red (Walmart, in the model car section), and then I guess Duplicolor clearcoat (the high heat stuff would probably last the longest)

I tried the candy red lens spray paint but didnt like the way that it came out. So I ended up using RED lexus paint and applied very light coats with an air brush followed by 2 coats of clearcoat. It came out fantastic!

The Testors transperant candy apple works awesome!! Just look at the pics, but that technique may work also.

hmmmm. I don't know if this is a good mod. Anything that requires a spray can is civic ricer style. If you really want it done properly, I highly recommend that you have it taken to a body shop to candy coat it. I promise that it will turn out fantastic

We'll have to disagree here. All my spray can projects come out OEM or better. Whether under the hood, inside the car or on my all-red 97' tails.

The trick is admitting when you f'd it up and it was better before you started. This is where most fail.

Hmm, then you guys must be expert painters or former graffitti artists because I have yet to see one good spray can project come out properly. However, my fellow clublexus members might prove me wrong. Touche!
