Default Appraisal Needed

Im just looking for what you guys think this car should sell for. I dont have the pictures uploaded so I will give as much detail as possible. The car is a 1996 SC300 5speed. It has 86,000 miles. The car is fairly rare being that is has no sunroof and cloth interior. The exterior is gold and the cloth is tan. The car will come with 18x8.5 AT Italia wheels and the stock wheels as well. The AT Italias have brand new Pirrelli Pzero Nero tires with under 100miles on them. The transmission was replaced at around 70k. Cd changer and all interior functions work and the dash has none of hte infamous burned out lights. I would rate the exterior condition at 8 out of 10 and the interior a 9 out of 10. The car has always been maintained at a Lexus dealer and was originally from Texas (now in north carolina) so it has no rust. Completely stock other than the wheels. Just looking for a little advice on how much to ask for it, thanks a ton!!

Take alook at what Edmunds has to say. Somewhere around $8000, or less should be very close. Let us know how it goes.

After looking for SC300's (1995/1996)with a 5 speed for almost 3 months I can tell you that you will not find one, (at least in New England) for that price. I used e-bay, auto-trader, cars.com and several other sources and finding a 96 SC with a 5 speed, under 100,000 miles, Lexus maintained, in good to excellent condition is near impossible. It might be the wrong time of year but I would think in Spring that car should easily go over $10,000 with the upgraded wheels.

Yep, same here. I looked nationwide. If that car is near perfect, it can go for 10-11k easy imho. I bought my 93 with the same amount of miles for $9100 in AZ so yea... Maybe I just got ripped off

I was definitly thinkining it would be worth at least 10k. So you dont think asking somewhere around $11,500 is too much? Just trying to get some opinions of owners as I have already looked at Kbb and edmunds.

I will be looking for a 300 5-Speed soon and you have the specimen I would really like to have.....too bad I don't have sufficient funds right now....

A 96 Sandstone with cloth and no sunroof is quite rare......when you are ready to sell it, let us know and post in the classifieds.....

Can do It would make a great track car with the less weight and added stiffness of the lacking sunroof.

The problem with the appraisal sites such as KBB, NADA, etc. is that they frequently don't reflect true market value for older cars that begin to have collector value. Also they frequently discount specific features that car nuts see as being desirable on certain cars such as a manual transmission. On new cars an automatic is generally an added cost option but in reality it is a deduct on most used performance cars. It's a matter of supply and demand and the fact is you can miss a lot great cars trying to get one for NADA prices.
