You guys have always been so helpful and I only come here when I have problem, sorry.
Like I said it has been a while but then the SC400 rarely has problems. This is what happened. I was doing about 140 on the highway. No problems. When I parked in the garage I noticed a oil spot big maybe 6" across. Ever since it drips. I looked under the car. It looks like it coming from where the torque converter is. But it is oil not trans fluid. That probably means the rear seal I guess. Right? How much would that cost to get fixed? Hugs to you all, Lisa
Lisa,
I think only the trans fluid drips from the rear main seal area....
I know I'm leaking myself due to a faulty drain plug....
Have you serviced your car recently??? If so, where???
Yea thats way wrong. The rear main seal (behind the tranny flexplate or flywheel) is responsible for sealingup the end of the crankshaft where alot of oil passes by. If yuor rear main seal goes bad, you will leak oil, believe me, it happened to me and I replaced mine 2 days ago. If it was tranny fluid, it would your front tranny seal. Either way you WILL have to drop the tranny to get the job done, so either look forward to: 1.) Alot of hours under the car (like me ), or 2.) spending atleast $500 to reaplce the seal (a $30 part).

Good luck, need any more help, feel free to ask
Thanks for clarifying dude
I guess I was confused.....
Lexus of Memphis gave me a price of $1100 for the rear main seal. Are trying to rip me off. WTF that is too much for a oil leak.
That sounds about right.....with the type of labor involved. Looking for an Independent Dealer. Usually their rates are a bit cheaper. Just another option....
