Turns out that the 150 amp fuse located in the Engine bay fuse box that is part of the Starting System wasn't making full contact when it was plugged in. The power surge that i described was probably caused by the arcing between the two contact points from the fuse to to the lines, considering there were burn marks on one side of the fuse as if it wasn't making full contact and arcing.
