Thumbs up

Center bezel pricing... Guys, I have been "duped" as well.. My buddy just bought the center
bezel in black from Lexus and paid $80 as Sc400T has been trying to tell us...
I have been buying those things for way too much..lol
BTW.... The CONSOLE which the bezel sits in is pricey as heck....
So buy that part used and paint away..lol

Indy... There are 2 guys in Ct. that have used that product which sells at Pepboys BTW... and they painted seats. I am very, very surprised that after 6 months they did not crack. The dashboard they painted looks good but i expected since there is little contact but the seats i thougt would never last.
Note - that one of my buddies used Dupli-color which sells at auto zone and advance auto on the dash and rugs and it is also mint looking. It also is half the price of the molecubond so may be worth it on non-leather applications.

I have some spare parts that i may "play" with and post pics later...

0l33l.... I picked up some of this paint and found that the product color bond is the same as molecubond and the same price.. I am trialing some parts with it and they hold up to fingernail scratches and "combing" so far... pretty good...

When you say "center bezel", are you referring to the piece that fits over the dildomatic shift ****? Basically, the piece with D,N,R, etc on it for autos? If so, I believe we were all (or at least I was) referring to the entire center console and indy's pics show how he painted the whole center console. This is why we had a hard time believing that the entire console could be had for $80.00 new! If that is the cost for the center bezel only, it's much more realistic.....unbelievably overpriced, but realistic nonetheless.

If the center console is only $80.00, I would rather install a brand new piece than refinishing. After adding up cost of paint, time & effort, $80.00 would be money well spent.

There is no way in bloody hell the center piece is 80 bucks. I know for a fact that the UPPER driver door panel, just the upper part with no wiring or electric components is over a thousand bucks. The sunroof screen in an SC is a bit over 400... if you want a center console, which is like 4 or 5 major pieces, you might be looking at about 2-3 grand.

Ok guys, this has caused so much controversey, I called the local Lexus dealer, and asked for regular prices from a guy I do not know, not from my friend who works there, and gives me great discounts...Below are the List prices for the different items discussed:

Center Console: $177.19
Center Console Outer Bezel: $106.99
Shift Gate Bezel(no switches): $35.68

Now that I think about it, I paid $125 for the Center Console, $80 for the Console Bezel, and $30 for the shift gate bezel...

Also, the center console unit itself is one large piece. What costs so much on the console are the components and switches...

Hope this helps,

Ryan

Ok, I'll look for either of them when I start again. I would just hate it if I had some scratch looking things on plastic.

I've been toying with the idea of spray dying the steering wheel/column shroud black, and painting the outer console bezel in black satin also.
Would try to use Sherwinn Williams Polane for the center bezel, an industrial painting company should have some around.
