My 92 SC400 is leaking ps fluid from the bottom of the reservoir. I searched and it seems that you can replace the o-ring at the bottom of the tank. The dealership said that there may be an o-ring but they can only sell me the whole reservior for $230. Has anyone actually done this and where did you purchase the o-ring. Thanks

 

I had a leak on my 95 SC4 resevoir a while back - and it turned out to be one of the two houses - the longer one that connects to the metal tubing. I picked up some hydraulic hose from the parts store, cut it to length and it's been working fine eve since.

If it does in fact turn out to be an o-ring, they can be had at most auto parts stores - just bring in the original off the pump and ask for a replacement - just be sure to specify that it needs to be designed for use with hydraulic fluid as regular butyl rubber o-rings will swell up and deform.

 

Mine is leaking from that same hose. It's not too bad yet, but I'll be addressing it this winter. BTW, good heads up on the O-ring compatibility issue. You definitely don't want to replace the o-ring just to have it leak again.

 

Carson Toyota sells the PS rebuild kit for $30 I believe. I didn't rebuild mine but I'm planning on having it done soon. I believe they also sell the o-ring for like $2 if that's all you want, no guessing games as it's the correct replacement for the bad one you have now.

 

For $30, this is the way to go. I'll probably end up buying one, just to have on hand.

Costs $35.34 and the part number is #04446-24020, and this rebuilds the PS pump ONLY

 

this is a common problem for our cars........mine is having the same problem.
