What are all the options on the car?
Have you test drive it yet? any problems? since you know Lexus already, you know what to look for as of quality and how the owner took car of the car. How's the tires? Do you need to buy new tires (I had to)

I paid $11.5 for my 103K mi. 93 SC400 White, heated seats, traction control, memory seat/streering, Nakamichi two months ago. The owner was asking $14.5K
Nakamichi CD player skipped from time to time, at the time of test drive I assume Lexus sound sys. is good, and I was more concern about the engine and the body integrity than the sound system. (didn't know anything about Lexus or nakamichi at the time).

Where are you located is one thing to consider. What are the going price there. If you're not in a hurry, wait a few days to see anyone willing to pay that price.
I'll offer her $14K if everything mechanically in working order; the CD changer will break down eventually, but it is good to be working when you by it.

I bought my 92 sc 400 with 32,500 in Jan. 01 for $16,800. It had a brand new battery and tires with less than 600 miles (all recipts). I dont have trantion control, moon roof, heated seats and no passanger air bag. (no 92's have the pass. air bag) I figured the lighter the better. I looked around for 6 months before before I purchased mine. I do highly recommend a SC. My second cousin works for lexus and told me to stick with a 92-95. With the newer ones you do get more options. Thats not a bad price for the 93 if its in tip top condition. Good luck!!!

Thumbs up Good Price.....

Try for $15,000.00, But with that # of miles it's a good price...... Plus, it appears to have all of you concerns replaced already......

Just get an extended warranty, and love your SC4 to be...

Smile LOL to SC owners

Well, I have been researching for this car for a while now and my gf thinks that I am going nuts

So far, what I have seen is that the weakest link of the SC400 is the alternator/power steering pump problem which cost a fortune to repair. My bro looked at the car and said it looks like it just come out from the dealer ...sweet.

I will offer around $14800 and see how it goes from there. Also, is the SC300 5speed trans or Supra TT 6 speed trans can be transplanted to the SC400???

The only thing that I am worried of is the maintenance of the car!!! The car is reliable until it break down and even the little things cost a lot to have it fix (spedo light, new exhaust, ac compressor, etc). I guess that the cost I have to pay for owning a Lexus sports coupe... With Lexus reliability, I am sure that I can stretch the lifespan of the car for another 10 yrs easily and by then, the car will be a clasic.

Peace out!!!

If you want manual look for SC300; 400 only come with auto.

How are you going to put a manual trans in a SC400? you need to make a hole for the clutch, change the correct length drive shaft, and differential
SC300 already has it, so swap trans. with supra is easy...

If you buy SC400 don't even think about stick.

Well, I'm just guessing here, but the V-8 will probably require a different bellhousing than the I-6. So if that is true you can not swap a manual in, unless you can find a car that toyota/lexus offers with the V-8 + manual Trans. then if you do find one....

well then grab some SC300 pedal assemblies, the proper transmission, proper bellhousing, clutch assembly, get new drive shaft made, and get console from SC300 5 speed. Oh yeah propably need to get the computer reprogrammed so it won't try to retard timing while its trying to figure out how to change gears......

so in other words if you want a manual get the 300.

I guess the manual trans transplant is not really worth the hassle. Pound per pound, which is better to modify to get more horsepower...considering cost, maintenance, reliability, etc. Will the V8 react to exhaust, KN filter, chip upgrade, etc better compared to a V6?

I still haven't made an offer yet but I think I will try offering $14,500 and see how the owner thinks about it. What do you guys think?
