Question

These are my Enkei 18's with the Kumo Supras. Good ride, not noisy and a good value. What is the general opinon on the painted calipers? The rear is kinda hard to see in the pic.

Love that Maroon color... So deep. Looks brand new!
Also like the wheels.
I like the calipers, looks like you need some Supra brakes, though.
They'd fill out your wheels a lot better.

Those calipers look really sharp. Sometimes, painted calipers come off as being cheesy looking. I agree with Scott: that maroon looks awesome.

Thumbs up

933005spd,

Man I've been to your site. What you've done with this car is incredible. You've got every right to be proud of it.

Question. On your site you talk about restoring the leather with special chemicals. Would you mind sharing what you used. The driver's seat came out amazing.

Post elbow grease

I was once in a book store looking for books on detailing, well, I only found one brief chapter in a big expensive book and in this chapter it told me to use a quality leather cleaner which you scrub in with a toothbrush. It was recommended to have medium and hard on hand. Then to rub in a quality conditioner with your hands!

I didn't buy the book but got the brushes.

Use the brushes in the cracks while spraying on the cleaner. I use Eagle Ottowa Spray cleaner, It is in a pump spray bottle and is golden yellow. Keep cleaning, polishing and wiping away until the grime comes out. It works, just takes about 20 min for the drivers seat to come out just right.

I then rub in the Eagle Ottowa condtioner, which is in a red plastic bottle. I use my hands and massage it in like sun tan oil on a hot blonde at the beach.

Then polish with a cotton towel. Do this weekly at first for a month or two, then biweekly during the summer. You don't need to use the cleaner every week.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. Can't wait until I can get the turbo and the Supra brakes like Scot says. Not till next year though....

Really appreciate the info on maintaining the leather. I did a search on the web and I'm coming up empty on Eagle Ottowa products. I found one reference to Eagle Ottowa Leather Ltd. with no link but I can't find anyplace that sells it. Where do you get it?

The name of it is Tanners Preserve from Eagle Ottowa and I get it at auto parts stores and Meijers also has it.

Thumbs up lookin' good!

I like what you did!
I painted my calipers also, but went with the silver enamel. It makes even the stock parts look great!

Dude, your car is sharp! Kinda makes me want one.

RealMarty,

I was in WalMart tonight and am 95% certain they sell the Eagle Tanner's Preserve products there. I saw two bottles, one a cleaner and the other a conditioner. Even opened the conditioner to have a look.

Thanks Brian. Really appreciate your doing that

But, I'm a little confused when you say you're only 95% sure. Did they have the Eagle Tanner's Preserve name on them or another name?

I suppose my memory could be a little fuzzy, hence the 95%. Yes, I'm fairly certain they had the Eagle name and Tanner's Preserve Service Mark. I don't remember seeing a spray -- only two lotion bottles. Not like I was looking for it though.

Default the 300 looks sharp

I really like the brakes.

So how long did it take you to fix your car up after the accident? It's a very impressive job!
