Default Back-up camera on an SC

I've been pondering this idea a lot recently, and today I actually went outside and looked at the trunk area. Specifically I checked out where the locking mechanism is. I know a member with an IS did a similar install on his car, and it looked great. My only concern (and I was unclear on his thread as well) was how do you open the trunk after this point??? If the lock is taken out, there goes the key hole, and if that whole mechanism is out, all the electronics are gone as well. How would one go about fixing this so the trunk would still open? Any ideas/help would be very appreciated.

James

I'm shopping around at the moment for a nice rear view wide angle camera...

Most of the ones I've seen are in a metal casing and are waterproof. I plan to drill a hole in the middle of the spoiler where the factory Soarer's had it...

I'll be running this direct to my carputer where I'll hopefully be able to record...

If you can get your hands on a UZZ32 rear spoiler then you can do it (it's already got the housing ready for it)... only thing is getting the UZZ32 rear spoiler...

I installed a reverse image back up color camera in the key hole on my other car. Most people don't even notice the camera. To open the trunk you use the interior trunk release or your remote (You need an alarm with remote trunk release). It is hooked up to an Alpine mpnitor that has an input that automatically turns on when you are in reverse.

when you take the lock out (key cylinder) - it's only mechanical part it's setup simular to door lock - metal rod to the actual lock and the lock itself with electric actuator stays, so yeah like guys are saying it's ok to take it out, just will have to use remote or inside cabin trunk release

Why do you have a sig, why do people modify their cars? To be different...

Anyways, thank you vredniykot for answering my question, and AcleanSC4, what type of camera do you have?

I'm kind of starting to like the idea But how are you guys going to correct the camera being offcenter? The keyhole isn't in the center, and so the camera won't be either??

That was my main concern as well, but like AcleanSC4 said, he has a 120 degree camera, and that should be a wide enough view I think to see everything behind you. I PMed Nextlevel coupe, and I'll make sure to ask him how the offset is when he writes back.
