Question

Does anyone know if they make a shift kit for a 93' sc400. I have heard the that supra tt tranies are the same so would that mean a shift could for a supra tt would work for me?

Contact LEVEL 10.

The Supra and SC trannies are exactly the same. (jbrady the LS valve body is different but the carcass and clutches are the same) I have taken one apart and the valve bodies are exactly the same for the Supra and the SCs. You can purchase a shift kit from them and also upgrade the internal clutches. These modded trannies are good for 10sec 1/4 miles.

In australia you can purchase a bellhousing adaptor for a Hilux 5 speed tranny convertion or if you want a 6 speed for you V8 they can also accomodate.

Good luck in your drivetrain endeavours.

Default shift kit

mindflux, I call them up and they told me I should get the valve body upgrade. Is this what you are talking about? It's about $700, but I think it might be worth it.

There was an article in Turbo magazine about the shift kit for the valve body. Basically what they do is they adjust the main regulated fluid pressure to a higher value by changing and shimming the pistons. The shift kit will improve shifts by having a stronger engagement and quicker shifts but this should be done in my opinion only if you are running way lower than 12s 1/4miles or something like that.

I suggest you contact Todd Matsubara about this subject he used to run his SC400 with Nos and had no problems with the Stock tranny. I doubt you will be hitting any lower trap times any time soon as you need to be way over 400HP for that. The Level 10 tranny upgrade is designed for a car well over 600HP e.g. for the BPU Supras. I would rather get the TC from SR technologies and get an extra oil cooler for the tranny if you want to upgrade the drivetrain, but again these trannies are just great. Once you break the 12s then consider the Level 10 upgrade. Also please note that I am talking about the old 4 speed autos like the one I have in my '95 SC not the newer 5 speed ones. Reliability on those 5 speed autos is still questionable as the tranny is still too new and the only really putting out some serious numbers is Mo.

Default tranny

Thanks for the info and suggestions. I think I am just going to do the torque converter upgrade from art carr and a cooler from b&m.
