I recently tried to put together SC4 but the project went sour but I still am gonna buy a SC
I know that everyone has their own taste and all that but still want to get some advise from those who know better

SC400

SC300 auto

SC300 manual

I'm not really feelin' the SC300 auto, but it's still considered

Life is so full of hard choices to make

the SC3 manual and SC4 have similar rwhp in stock form but the SC4 has a bunch more torque
the SC3 manual... it's manual... what else can i say about that?
the SC4 cruises better IMO. I got 22.5mpg out of my SC4 with 850lbs of payload on a mostly highway (average from 7500miles)

if you are not looking to go turbo then i say SC4 if you want to make heaps of power then SC3 manual

I have a very decent example of the SC4 for sale if you decide go for the SC4.

VSsc400

thanks man, your car is sweet and a steal too with all the mods on it
i'm just **** about that, i want to do it all myself partly for experience partly just cause i want to know where everything is at and i know that i put it on myself and there is no one to blame

oh, if only they have made a manual tranny for the SC4 it would probably own twice as much as it does now

i really like the V8 for hidden potential in it, on the other hand i like the 5speed just cuz it responds quicker and future possibility of upgrade to 2jz-gte
mustang comes in mind, but hell, everyone and their grandma owns a mustang, even if it kicks a-- i still wouldnt go for it

why o why do i have to choose?
or maybe i should get both?

buy a SC3 5speed. Buy my car. Take everything off my car and put into the SC3-5speed.
Sell the SC4 bone stock.
problem solved! =)

but seriously whatever you decide to do good luck. If you are going to be relatively stock then SC4 is the way to go but the lack of manual tranny bothers many people including me.
If you want a fun fun car to drive get the SC3-manual.

Both are incredibly durable engines, but the 400 series V8 probably had more engineering and testing involved in it than any other powerplant/drivetrain in history. It is virtually indestructable and there are far too many examples that have gone 300, 400 and 500 thousand miles with only basic maintainance to really argue against my point.

The 3 and 4 both have good reliable engines. Period. Each has it's pros/cons.

The durability of the GE shouldn't be questioned. It was grossly overbuilt and welcomes boost. Ebanks NA-T put out 1K HP at the crank. LL is putting down 585RWHP right now.

Yeah, I was leaning more towards SC4 anyhow, but I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed either way

Thanks for all your input guys

as far as turboing it, i'd probably wait some, it isn't really cheap and i have not done much reading in that section, first mods would probably have to be Exhaust, TC, ECU, Suspension etc.
it most likely gonna be a daily driver for me 'cuz my Yukon is kicking my a-- on gas mileage

but if i get a 5 speed it would be ALL MINE 'cuz 'ol lady can't drive a manual and Lex is not a lab rat for her to train on hehehe

Another thought, what about Traction Control? is this something to have? did they make it on the SC3?

Trac was offered on both cars, but only with the automatics. It is worth having in my opinion.

I believe the 400 is the right choice, especially for me, but we are all different and my case fit the following descriptions:

College student, no prospects fof a good job whatsoever until graduation and therefore, no major cashflow to fool around with. The 400 offers excellent power in stock form and can be kept up with care.

However, if you make a butload of money and have buttloads of time, an SC300 5 spd might be right for you because then you have resources readily available to tune the heck out of it. I do not.

When it comes to modding, I just say leave it alone. Just keep it up, little things like sport spark plugs and wires will improve power to original levels.
