Default Cluster Question

I have 2 clusters 1) original with burnt needles etc. and 2) sc400 cluster with red on red.
The red on red is installed and looks great but i have the typical rpm problem (high rpms with sc4 cluster on sc3) and milieage is way too high..."Embarrassed when people see me running 5000 rpms at 70mph..lol

Which of the following if any will work:
- Is it "easy" for a novice like me to remove lighting and needles from the red on red sc4 cluster and install on my original sc3 cluster?
- Swapping the back section of the 2 clusters assuming that there is some "brain" in there that retains calibration info and will this make the sc4 needles "behave" properly with the sc3 back section?

none of what you have mentioned will work.

The RED needles are for late 94 to 97 cars and are wired completely backwards from the 92 to 94 needles, as well as the circut boards are wired differently and nothing interchanges. (go figure).

Also, the tach MOTOR is different from the SC4 v/s the SC3. it reads at a different resistance so it wouldn't function correctly on the SC4 board even if it were interchangeable.

Now the good news..... it can be done, but will take some extensive voltage changes and recalibration. Shoot me an email if you'd like for me to help do the changeover and we'll work something out for little of nothing to get you strait.

Sales at lextech.org

The backlight changes you are speaking of having made can be changed probably, but not the needles or the motors. everything will need to be electrically reset and calibrated. The mileage can't be swapped since the clusters are different, so you'll need to pick the cluster you want (the 5 speed one obviously) and have the changeover done on it.

LLS - Just some background... My sc3 cluster is from an auto not 5spd... The sc4 cluster with red on red was purchased from a member in Texas who had it modified by OLT (i was told). So i don't think the needles are the issue since the sc4 was a 93...

I will contact you regarding the recalibration or with this new info wouldn't it be easier to Swap lights and needles from the sc4 cluster to the sc3?
Thanks

gonna need proof of that

everything above is correct whether or not it is from an sc3 auto or stick, because the tach is still different. (unfortunately).

after the swap a TON of recalibration will be needed since the needles are balanced for a completely different cluster, and IF the red needles are wired for the 95+ cluster they wont work on the 92 style.

send me a pic of each unit lit up PLS.
