Hey Yamkoo,

I looked up the parts at the dealership. Wierd breakdown:

04/91-01/94 - Part Number 55902-24010
01/94-08/96 - Part Number 55902-24020
08/96-07/00 - Part Number 55902-24010

I double checked the part numbers, it appears the newer models have the same unit as the older models, really wierd. That's what the parts catalog says!!!

Thanks

A friend of mine bought a used one (not sure which year) and put it into his 92 SC4 and part of the unit does not work even though it works in the SC it came from. The part numbers on the two units are different.

Yeah, I can't see why the newer SC climate units would be the same as the older ones. The parts catalog at the dealership must be incorrect.

Default What is the problem with the old one?

The unit is actually two sections, front and rear. Couple screws is all that is needed to separate.

Difference to the front half , the 92-94 have blue covers on the light bulbs, '95 (and there after) have white. The blue covers is what makes the illumination green (blue+ yellow=green)

Difference to the rear half, the brain is different.

If it is your lights/buttons that are bad (which is most common), and your e-bay special is good, you can simply swap the rear half of your old one to the front half of your new one. If your really ambitious and have lots of patience, take the front half apart to swap out the white caps for the blue ones.

If your unit simply isn't working, then you are one of the rare unlucky ones with a bad brain. In that case, you need a 94 or earlier version.

If you're intimidated about the swap out of the bulb covers and you're in the greater Los Angels area, pm me. I'm in the greater Los Angles area.

dahozzman,

There is nothing wrong with the old climate control besides the darn LCD Screen is broken (LCD Bleed), the lights work just fine. Im tried plugging a 97+ climate control into my 92 and no go.
