Default Momo Hand Brake Handle

I've been trying and searching, about last year, I saw someone did replaced his handle on the emergency brake with a Momo one, but couldn't find it again. Could someone please direct me to the write up on how it was done, pictures? Thanks in advance.

Default Anthracite SC Momo...

...Did you have to change or modify the E-brake leather boot or was/is it a straight trade out for the MOMO unit...? Looks REALLY nice.... Nitro

If you are going to do the steering wheel and ebrake, you might as well paint the woodgrain trim on the doors and dash black, it sticks out like a sore thumb after the swap.

THEN it'll be PIMP!

wmulli,

That's exactly the pictures that I remembered seeing. Thanks. Is there any adaptor that I needed to buy to get that momo handle to fit? Did you just have to cut the original off and stick this new one in? How about that boot? Thanks in advance. So many questions, but I've been eyeing one of those here at AutoBacs and really interested in doing this on my sc. I did buy a momo door sill and with a little bit of cutting with a dremel, it really fit really good. This time, it will be the brake handle. Again thanks.

Default NO adaptor needed

You don't have to make any changes to the e-brake.
You just take the old one out and put this one on.
You DO have to swap the leather boot as well. The only drawback is that the momo leather boot is SHORTER than the stock one so it will show on the other side. It's easy to live w.though

THe ebrake and wheel make a huge difference. Just feels much better.
I actually like the wood w/the black. It looks better in person than in pictures.
But I may think of painting the wood as well.

How would I paint it? BRUSH? SPRAY?

Mike

how short is short on the leather boot on the e-brake?

If you have a picture depicting how short the boot is, it would be great!.

where did you get it from
and
how much did you get if for?

thanks.

Default Boot

The shift boot goes down to the edge of the driver's seat.

From a distance..u can't tell if it's short.
But if you sit in thd driver's seat..you'll see the metal supports that were once covered by the older boot.

To me that's no big deal..since I'm the driver! =) Also it's not really notideable from any angle in any other part of the car.

I don't have pictures of that angle..but could get it sometime.

I got it from www.machIII.net

Like others have said, you don't need an adapter, the MOMO fits just fine. I had a hard time getting the stock handle off (I wanted to save it in case the MOMO didn't work out). It's glued on. I spent about 45 minutes prying it off with a small flathead screwdriver. If you don't want to save it, save yourself the aggravation and just dremel it off
I like the MOMO boot, but like Anthracite said, it's just a bit short. You only notice it when you're getting in the driver's seat. No big deal (but you may lose points at a show LOL!)
I thought I had gotten my handle for a lot less the $120, but the place I got it from (Autotoys.com) doesn't have it listed anymore (although they say they can order any MOMO item for you, but you may not save anything. Probably worth asking them though).
Good luck and post pics when you're done! I'd like to see pics of your doorsills as well
