Default drop-in air filter

would you prefer K&N drop-in or TRD drop-in ???or do you think it's better off just buy another factory cotton filter or buy a cone air filter.....

I've got my box cut open a bit already....just want something that will flow better .....

both k+n and trd are cotton filters so they will most likely perform exactly the same since they are both flat pannel filters. i suggest buying whichever one is cheaper since it wont matter performance wise.

wow...I didn't know the K&N and TRD are cotton....well..if that's the case...the factory one is the cheapest

glad to be of help. usually on most parts like that if they have the almost exact design and made of the same materials (most of the time made by the same company but distributed with a different name) you will get the same output

im a big fan of k+n since you can get filters in many shapes and sizes to fit your application. i have also noticed that by just putting on an adaptor and a cone filter you can actually gain some power from different shaped cone filters....its pretty interesting and definately something to try out if you are interested in making the most efficient motor you can.

yea..I've made my own adaptor for a cone air filter..just weld some pieces together.....but in some range..it dumped so much fuel the motor jerks...but it PULLS STRONG after 4,000RPM....I like it..but not the part where the motor hesitate...it did it only around 2,000-2,500...but..so I just put the airbox back in and cut it open..but not all the way..just a big hole..and so..now..I'm just wanting to get a OEM size air filter....I like K&N...my bike use K&N...and i like it...so I guess maybe I"ll get the K&N..and chop the airbox..

before you go throwing away your maf adaptor did you reset your ecu when you installed the part? if not you need to reset your ecu to allow for the difference in air flow and temps to your motor. it actually might clear that issue up. i do know for a fact since the computers can adjust fuel and timing by a little over 2% it can be possible for the ecu to make corrections to fix that situation. good luck and i hope that helps. if not let me know we might be able to work through it since it sounds like a minor tuning issue.

what do you mean by resetting???
unplug the battery terminal..and let it "reset"??????..let it sit about a minute or two??and plug it back up??
I think it's just b/c our MAF senor is rectangular opening and my adaptor opening is circle..and they don't match quite well..that might be it..~~who knows~~

no problem man. yea the circular to square setup could be causing some air restriction around that time so the metering is off. in any event good luck with your car and have a good one man

im running a blitz drop-in filter and it works great!
i dont like cone filters, personally, cuz it makes that loud noise inside engine bay when accelerating.

just my o2.
