Question 7mgte???

i know this may sound crazy but im about halfway finished rebuilding a 7mgte(mkii turbo supra) engine and i dont really like the old supras. i found a 92 sc400 for cheap with a salvage title. could i put the 7m in it? if it is possible which i think it is, what would it take mechanically to swap? im mainly worried about the motor mounts, i could get a driveshaft made and figure out the wiring. please help and dont make fun of me for building the head gasket blower (i have headstuds and hks hg) thanks

With the right amount of time and $ anything is possible. You'll just have to decide if it's worth it. The wiring will be a nightmare (easier with shop manuals) and you'll have to fab a lot of custom parts including relocating the motor mounts. My thoughts are that it's not worth it.

Default 7mgte mkii??

I believe the 7m came off a mk3 not mk2, I think the mk2 had the 5m motor... You may want to do a search for people that swaped engines in there mk3 to the new 2j motor.. I've heard it all bolts up but you will have to change the motor mounts. I've also seen a few mk3 supra's with the 1u engine... .. The 7mgte is a great motor but beware of spinning bearing and blowing gaskets... I use to have a NA mk3 with a JDM 7mgte motor and it ran great till I totalled it... Well good luck in your project buddy... Bryan

The 7M is a MKIII engine, as Bryan858 said. Ive only heard of 2 people swapping a 2JZ into the MKIII, and Ive been a memeber of SF for a long time. It is far from a bolt in application. Extensive custom work is needed to make it work properly.

That being said, its possible to put in the SC, its just a matter of money and time. The 7M is a great cheap motor, and its inherent problems can be fairly easily avoided, but if you are going to the trouble of swapping and customizing the motor to fit, you might as well pay a little (well, a lot) more and use a 2JZ. A BPU 2JZ will make low to mid 400 wheel, where as a BPU 7M is about 300 wheel.
