WOOT! Walked outside all scared as hell that the LS400 brakes I bought today at a junkyard wouldn't clear... 3.6 inches of clearance from rotor to inner rim. :3 YAY!

I'll be doing this today. I couldn't find any ls400 dust shields locally so I'll just remove my sc300 shields.

Hopefully my install goes smoothly without any bodily injury...........lol

Out with the old.

In with the new.

Here it is with the brakes bled and the lug nuts tightened. All that's left is a test drive.

Couldnt help but notice that no one in this entire post mentions what brake lines they upgraded to, and whether or not they got the lines for the Sc or the Ls... so, any takers on that question? What brand of SS lines did you buy and for what model?

The LS caliper is made of alunimum, so it doesn't get hot. I drove my car for awhile and it doesn't get warm. Therefore, it can be painted with regular paint and then top off with clear coat to prevent scratch. There's no need to use caliper paint, which is expensive and limited in color.

Read through the whole thread and didn't see an answer to this question...

Will the factory SC spare clear the LS setup with a 15mm spacer? Need to know if I will need to look for a new replacement spare. I know it was mentioned that a factory 17" GS wheel will with that spacer.

I highly doubt the 16" spare will fit

I was hoping it would (with spacer) as I had been told that the 95 LS factory wheels were also 16".

The LS does use a 16" wheel, but just because the outside diameter of a rim is the same doesn't make the inside diameter the same. The stock SC 16" 5 spoke clears with a spacer, but it could potentially hit the wheel weights on the caliper.

On a steel wheel the inside diameter gets smaller where they weld the face to the outer barrel, so I imagine that can create clearance issues. I've never tried first hand to see if the steel rim fits, but I don't think it will either.
