Unhappy

Help my 94 SC400's keyless entry is not working. The key is putting out cause I can hear it on the FM station. But it does nothing. What can I check or do to fix this?

Thanks!

teberhardt,

the keyless entry in my wife's 93 SC300 isn't working and I've
already had the battery replaced with no luck. But from other
posts I've heard that sometimes there is dust and stuff inside
the key itself.

So, what do you mean when you say you hear the key working
on the FM radio. Are you inside the car when you're pressing the
button? Is the radio just turned on, to a specific frequency, or
what? Please let me know.

Lastly, if you're a do it yourself kind of guy, send me an e-mail
and I will forward something sent to me by another club member
for the troubleshooting procedure. It was way to complicated
for me, not to mention that I'm in no mood to be removing the
rear seats right now, so I'm just considering an aftermarket
system and letting the OEM system lie dead, if indeed it is.

Ah, that dreaded switch under the dash!

A few months ago, my keyless entry stopped working,
strangely after I had it detailed.

After a couple of battery replacements and curse words,
I remembered that there is a switch just to the left of
the steering column, under the dash, about the same level
as the trunk and fuel door switches.

Flip that switch back to "On", and you're back in business!

markmaz, thanks for your email.
I haven't worked on this problem yet.
but I went to the dealer and asked about ECU price, they told me that for 1 key, $150 and for 2 key, $250.
I'm not sure If I'm fully understanding how keyless entry works..
I might just pay $250 if it's not real pain to do it.

Default change ECU or get after market security system?

HI guys, question.

again my keyless entry is not working.
I believe its ECU is dead.

1. should I just go to dealer to chagne ECU (around $300-500).
or
2. should I get after market security system at local shop?(the one comes with keyless entry)
I dunno how much itll cost this one.

Why pay $300-$500 for the keyless entry when you can get an after market alarm with remote starter lock/unlock for about $500. Factory alarm is not that great anyway. A fellow forum menber just got his SC400 stolen a few days ago...
