black leather
I know this has been talked about but what do you guys think about keepiong my tan interior but just getting black leather for the seats from leather seats .com. Do you think it would look kinda off or look good?
I don't think that will look too great IMO. True the tan interior does have black accents but I think the black accents look well because they're subtle, while the other colors of the interior are centered around earth-tones (sandstone, tan, ivory, beige, brown, etc.). If one were to transplant a black leather interior into a previously tan-interiored SC I don't think the dash and steering wheel colors (earthtones) would compliment the black leather very well. If you also got a black steering wheel, black leather e-brake bootie, black shift-****, and black mats it may look better with the conversion. Just my opinion.
Hey Jdmsoarer:
I have black leather in my 1999 sc300. I have ordered a new set from leatherseats.com b/c I want to add some perks (heater/massage, etc). I will be selling my old black leather coverings. They are in GREAT condition. I give the drivers seat an 8.5/10 and rest of it 9/10. Let me know if you are interested. I will let it go for MUCH less than new black leather from leatherseats.com.

I haven't even SAT in an SC yet
, yet I frequent this site. So I don't know if the dash is a suede vinyl or a flat vinyl. But I am aware of the whole beige issue, and I have a solution!
Well, a possible solution, that needs to be tested.
this link will fill you in on the basics:

Leatherseats.com seats, dye the rugs, spray the interior, what about the roof? Is that fabric? Dye it.
What do you all think? Does anyone have a small interior piece they can spray? Or spray the back of something? Test it out?

A similiar question... how would black seats both front and rear look in a gray interior Sc.??
I pruchased black lexus mats and a black steering wheel cover which really look sharp. Always thought the black is the ultimate look.

Phiz,
I have done an interior change on my Acura - from tan to black. This included dying the carpet, changing the leather, door and dash panels. That is a hell of a lot of work. IT can be done, but you have to ensure you use the right texture. IMO, the Lexus has too many things that can go wrong - wood prep (to prevent overspray), removal of all dash panels ,etc. I mean, it is DO-ABLE, but I would rather keep my tan leather or swap a complete black interior, as if you have not tried, it can be a bear (even if you have). That is my .02.
BTW, I won NOPI Nationals with that setup in 2002, so it came out pretty good

If someone is committed to doing the interior swap, I don't think it matter if it's being replaced by another black interior, or if it's being vinyl dyed. From a labor standpoint. Or at least from a cost/labor analysis.
To me it's a matter if the dye will take to the parts, and then people will have an additional option, and can decide thusly.
