i had my car compression tested on all cylinders before i got na-t.
the results turned out that 5 of my cylinders had the same reading of "175", while
one of them had a reading of "168".

so, is that a good or bad thing? my mechanic said it's not so bad for that 1 cylinder
reading.

any thoughts?

On the surface, those aren't bad numbers at all. Was this a "cranking" test or a "leakdown" test? I'm guessing it was a cranking test, in which case the numbers are fine. I'm also guessing that the low cylinder was #6. This is where the EGR valve does it's nastyness. Before putting your turbo on, you may want to do a full leakdown test. This will tell you whether it's rings or valves that are causing the pressure difference. If it's just carbon on the valves (most likely, from the EGR), it would be a simple matter to have the valve seats done while you had the head off to install your 2 mm HG In any case, I'd close off the EGR openings to protect that cylinder when you're boostin'

Those readings are just what would be expected from an older, but healthy engine. I'd forge ahead with your project
