Default Struts needed---

An automotive tech told me when i was having tires rotated/oil changed that one of my rear struts was leaking fluid and shoudl be replaced eventually.

I think Im going to want to replace all 4 struts at the same time considering I believe they are all original and 12 years old.

Now what I want is good handling, but luxury and plush feeling is actually a little more important... ideallly I would want a set of OEM exactly like the ones that came with the car, but I dont want to get raped by the lexus/toyota dealer for the cost of struts which I believe will be alot. Is there a cheaper aftermarket company that maes very smooth riding struts?

How about tokico? how are they?

If I'm not totally off the deep end, looking at my struts the other day..... they where tokicos......this car has never had anything but stock on it (to my knowledge) so that leave me to belive that stock is a type of tokico strut?????? let me know if im wrong.... just thought that was interesting when I wiped the dust off one of them and saw that..... if so... might be a way around lexus to get the tokicos for cheaper???? i dunno, sound like research time

Yes, you should replace both fronts or both rears or all four together. That is the safest as far as driveability.

It doesn't matter who made the OEM shocks, as many parts on most cars are made through subcontract through other manufacturers. An OEM shock is still basically an OEM shock.

We do have the Tokicos for 279, and the OEM are $199. Both prices are for a complete set of four. I would also recommend changing the shock boots at the same time, which are around $110.

The springs are $259 for Eibach pro kits, these are the most recommended for that vehicle model and we have had zero complaints from any that we have installed here.

As far as the shock boots, the actual term used by Toyota as their part reference is "Insulator, Spring" I'm not at all sure what "suspension support" refers to, maybe that is the main crossmember. If you have to change that then you have some serious problems

Once again it is recommended to get both fronts and both rears if you are going to have the car apart.
