Default Known Differences between the SC300 and SC400. What works, what doesn't.

I want to start a list for people to reference on what does not fit the other for members looking for parts. So the next time the question is asked, the answer will be here.

Examples:

(1) Q.- Does an Sc300 cluster fit an SC400?

A.- Yes, BUT the readings may be off on certain gauges such as the TACH.

(2) Will SC300 window regulators fit in an SC400and vice versa?

A.- No. The SC300 regulator is 1/2 inch longer, and the mounting bolts are extended 1/2 inch wider. These identical bodied cars have been changed enough to disallow swapping regulators.

Please add your experience in what swaps and what doesn't. (Gazi, you outta know a few things )

Do SC300 come with a spoiler like the SC400?

No, SC300 comes with the THIRD factory brake light instead of a spoiler...Factory spoiler on the SC300 is optional when purchased new...

Are SC300 brakes the same as the SC400?

No, SC300 calipers are slighty smaller than the SC400...Not all wheels that clears a SC300 will clear the SC400 caliper due to this issue..

hope this helps.....i took a couple of shots of the parts manual.
It should be noted that these changes or differences are due to year changes. According to the parts manual most parts do fit from 300/400 except the obvious stuff....V8/V6.....brakes. Most changes are noted in the production dates.
Here is the window regulator info

the radiators between the 5speeds and the autos are different.

the sc300 front calipers are smaller than the sc400s

the trunk shocks for the sc300s without spoilers are weaker than the sc400s

I think the only radiator difference between the 5 speeds and the autos is the autos have the hookup for the cooling loop for the transmission.

You can use an automatic radiator in a 5 speed, just ignore the hookups for the tranny cooler.

Actually, you could use a 5 speed tranny in an automatic if you want to add an aftermarket tranny cooler - probably a good idea, anyhow .
