I don't have his URL handy but I'm sure someone can post it.
Lex400sc aka Rich has done a great job with his SC400 website.
It has a FAQ and a page that tells you the differences between the years.

It will also mention common problems with the SC. Such as PS Pump leaking onto the alt.
Leaky/foggy headlights. Door hinges. (Most of these problems were fixed in the latter years of production)

I feel your pain about the salt I hate it too. Hey bizzy928 I had a question, do you know any descent mechanics to go and get my bushings replaced... I don't feel like forking over 3-4 grand at the dealer.

By the way I'm at 205K Kms and running ooohhhh sooooooo sweeeet. I think the site bizzy is refering to is http://www.intellexual.net

Let me check on some shops for you. I know of one place where a friend of mine takes his Volvo s60 to.
Its on Woodbine Ave. and just north of John St. right next to the Mandarin Buffet. Its called "Luxury Cars" (LOL) It has a huge green sign which you can't miss. They are pretty good from what I have seen. They will take digi pics of your car before and after just in case. If you are not in the area and need a number then I could drop by when I pass that area.

Other than that, I can't think of any Lexus-only mechanics.
You could always take it to a local Toyota dealership. Bushings are a pretty standard procedure.

Thanks bizzy, the customer service guy at the Lexus dealership didn't even believe it when he found out how much it would cost... That's insane for a couple of bushings (yes I know it's a LEXUS but still). Anyways for anything major I just go to the dealer so I don't know any other shops that I can trust them to do an honest job. Anyways I'm gonna probably change the bushings in the spring sometime along with the springs and shocks so I'm just checking around now.

Also I didn't know that a Toyota shop would do it I just figured they'd tell me to go to the Lexus delership. The closest one is a toyota/lexus delership so I'm pretty sure they'd say, "ask him," and point to the cust. serv. rep for Lexus. So again thanks and if anything else comes to mind drop me a pm.

So, I should stop babying my 96 and just enjoy the experience since its just broken in (63K). That's the kind of advice I love to hear.

Regarding the 96 v. 97 question, I think, except for the body sytling, they are the same car. Do you like the ground effects or the bullet nose? Big differnce in the tail lights too.

I got 212k miles on mine. still drives great! I cant believe it myself. I do all my own service. tune up, fluid change, t belt waterpump. suspension. As of now I think it ll go for another 100k.

Everything on my car is original. Look at the pic of VOLKS. original paint and no body damage whatsoever. My interior is a little dirty but no rip in leather

SUN get a 97 and newer. At least you got a fresher look.

Should I post a pic of my interior for you guys to judge???
