Default Is Modding a disease?

Have I just inherited, created, or perpetuated a known sickness? Where did it come from? Can I blame it on you? This board? People in general? Who can I sue?

In two weeks from purchasing a SC I have already dropped 500 bones (emblems, tires, tint, polish, wax, cleaning agents). At this rate, in one year I will have paid off the car; But instead of having the car paid off, it will be supped up to the point where only Lexus aficionados know the difference. Tell me, is this rational – or am I deluded by my new found disease?

I would call your recent mods "upkeep." Think if it as money well invested! New tires for safety, tint to help prolong your interior and polish and wax to keep the paint fresh.

But it is only the initial symptoms. Many of the members here have it bad and it seems to be very contagious. If you stick around, it is only a matter of time before your immune system breaks down.

Although not as much as some, I've spent way more than I had initially intended on this car.

I almost got it in what I would call a class 4 rating... (4 is the highest) I have what I believe to be class 2.... (0 would be absolutely no concern, 1 would be concerned upkeep, and 2 would be concerned with appearance and mechanical upkeep to the extent of preventive maintainance.

I would say I dont own a lexus, the lexus owns me. Im searching around for the best price for the removal of three dents, so far I know I can do it for 250.... not bad but could be better.

Anyway, back to my story. I did the ECU upgrade through lexuspros last summer, and the extra thrill of the added performance was great. I was certain i was going to get the performance torque converter this year at some point, but seeing as how I'm unemployed and still finishing up my education, I should only be doing basic upkeep and cheap stuff for now.

By the way, the engien cover I put on my car worked out great... It stuck up slightly on the right side, but the hood closes and pushes it down, and over a few days, it gradually conformed itself better. Several people, even a few girls have commented how awesome my engine compartment looks... she even commented that the new acura TLs (we were at auburn acura) suck compared to my 12 year old car!

Just be glad you own a sc400. There are only so many mods you can do (body kit, headers, torque converter, rims, ecu, intake, exhaust, tint, sound, interior) until you run out of options..

The sc300 boys have it worse. There are so much stuff they can do

What about those who could have bought 2 or even 3 more Lexus's with the money invested in mods, is there hope for us?.................LOL

hahaha!! If there are 4 levels of addiction, I swear that my wife and I must be on level 5

First off, I started with a craptastic cavalier and dropped about $3k worth of suspension, brakes and engine mods on it. Then I sold everything off of that to buy my 240sx for $1000 (I will get to that later)

Next came the wife's accord, which had about $4000 spent on it in suspension, brakes, stereo and appearance stuff, she likes the bling factor

Since purchasing the 240 a little over a year ago, my wife and I have spent about $12k on major upgrades to it. Engine swap, suspension, electronics, brakes, paint a few sets of wheels, even more sets of tires, and chassis stiffening.

Now comes the SC3, hopefully we can buy it and drop about 15K in upgrades and have something to write home about

it is only a disease if you focus on one thing only. (the car).

I was pumping $$$$$ into my car last week, once i started i couldn't stop. put %50 of my credit cards limits in the sky over some parts, then along came two shiney new camera's and i haven't touched the car in 3 days. lol.

Gotta occupy the mind elsewhere to keep from going under.
