I am in the process of getting my 1997 Lexus SC 300 prepped for sale. I would like to get a history for my car to add to the listing. Am wondering if anyone could tell me how to get a Carfax (or) is there an alternative that's better.
I use carfax but sometimes i googe a website to look up the vin (like JD power), also I am interested in buying an sc300 (as my first lexus) but I cant find much in good condition near me on my budget
The big question is where will you be selling it... If you go thru FB Marketplace or Auto Trader, people may ask for one but it's not needed. 3 out of 5 people asked for it but the person that eventually purchased my GS, didn't, even though I had one.
If you go thru eBay, then that's expected but I think you do get their AutoCheck one for free.
If you go to Bring A Trailer, or Cars & Bids, I believe they get you a Carfax for free.
BTW, you can get the report for cheap from resellers, mine cost around $4.

If you add the car’s vin number to your account on the Lexus Drivers website it will give you dealership maintenance records for free. Some of this stuff may not appear on a Carfax or Autocheck report and could possibly give more detailed information on some things.
It’s all provided by Lexus as well. I don’t have a link to it at the moment but there can be some good information on there.
