Default Paint colors...anyone have a list?

Hey everybody!

First post here. I'm a long-time RX-7 enthusiast, and have decided to switch over to the Lexus camp . I'm looking at getting an SC300 in the not too distant future, and I've been digging through the Internet and these forums like you wouldn't believe .

Anyhow, I've yet to find a comprehensive list of the paint colors that were available. If anyone has a list of this sort, or knows someplace where they're broken down, I'd mucho appreciate it. I'm going into this the same as when I got into RX-7's - by the time I bought one, there was VERY little I didn't know about the car .

Thanks,
Dale

Welcome to the club Dale. I'm sure you will find all the info you need here- the search button is an amazing thing.

As far as paint colors, a couple of months ago I went on a mission to get a list of complete ext/int colors for all the model years for the FAQ (www.intellexual.net BTW). Unfortunately, after many searches and calls to Lexus corp. and the dealership, I gave up. I think it was too much work for anyone to figure out. If you find out anything though, be sure to share.

Tim

Thanks! Yep, I already stumbled on your FAQ - LOTS of good info there!

Might be helpful to make a list of colors that are known - so far I've seen:

- pearl white
- red
- black
- sand/champagne

I'm sure there's more .

Are there any special year packages - I know Toyota did a few special editions, where the car would be a special color with certain extras. Did they ever do anything like that with the SC?

edmunds usually will give you a list of colors available for each vehicle. I'm not sure how accurate it is though. It lists a lot of colors that I'm not sure were available.

Thanks for the link, TimmyD! Next step is to prove or disprove the colors

Here's what Edmunds lists:

Almond Beige Pearl Metallic
Beige Metallic
Black
Black Jade Pearl Metallic
Burgundy Pearl Metallic
Cobalt Blue Metallic
Dark Green Pearl Metallic
Dark Mauve Metallic
Dark Walnut Pearl Metallic
Diamond White Pearl Metallic
Flint Gray Pearl Metallic
Frosted Sapphire Pearl Metallic
Garnet Pearl Metallic
Light Beige Metallic
Light Grayish Rose Metallic
Midnight Indigo Pearl Metallic
Royal Jade Pearl Metallic
Silver Spruce Metallic
Super Silver III Metallic
Taupe Metallic

That's a LOT of colors. I think that may have been the full range of Lexus colors, not necessarily the available colors on the SC. For example, I don't see any reason there would be 2 silvers.

Anyone else have any input? We might end up with a good FAQ addition

Well, digging through Edmund's a bit more, I looked at the color list for '97. I'm sure they changed available colors over the years, but this list seems more realistic.

Black Onyx
Bordeaux Pearl
Classic Green
Pearl Diamond White Pearl
Platinum Metallic
Renaissance Red
Royal Sapphire Pearl
Shadow Rose Quartz

Makes me wish I could get my hands on the original dealer brochures .

try lexus.com for the brochure in the owners section. I know you can get the manuals, I'm pretty sure they can send you a brochure if you ask.

This looks about right for 97, I'm pretty sure that's when they added the shadow rose quartz. The list above though I think is for all models, I don't think they had the super silver 3 or whatever is was on sc's, but I do know they had the silver spruce.

Platinum metallic and royal sapphire pearl..... hmmmmmmm......

Most colors are listed here: http://www.intellexual.net/sc400.html at the bottom of every revision list (except for 1992).

fc3s7 silver spruce isn't really a silver... it looks more like a dark grey. here is a pic of my car. it's silver spruce.

code 6M3 Silver Spruce Metallic was only for the first two years, nice colour (yours actually looks like Flint Grey in that pic). The replacement was code 1A0 Alpine Silver Metallic which was more of a straight Silver and ran from '94-98. That was replaced in the last two years '99-00 with code 1C0 Millennium Silver Metallic, which had a slight Greenish tint to it. Platinum was also one of the Silvers, even though it's more of a light blue.

If I'm not mistaken, it should be listed on one of the door jamb stickers.
